About Me

Hello! Nice to meet you, I'm Sean. I am a Singer, Actor, Dancer, Musician and proud Biracial Japanese-American, Southern California native. When I was a little kid, I was always mesmerized with entertainment. I would constantly watch our family's discs of classics like The Producers, Aladdin, and Spiderman (Toby Mclllguire version of course). Not only would my eyes glow for movies, but I found incredible excitement in watching live theater. Wicked, Matilda, and Miss Saigon are just a few of the many shows that made me fall in love with Theater.

My love for creativity and performance was confirmed when I was lucky enough to be put into acting classes at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California when in the third grade. Shortly after I started private voice lessons, and I have been studying both ever since. Later on, I attended the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts in high school, and majored in Musical Theater. During my senior year, I was lucky enough to win the Spirit of the Macy Award for Best Actor for my performance as the Stoker in Titanic, and attended the 2022 Jimmy Awards. Since then, I have been pursuing a BFA in Musical Theater at Pace University in NYC. Some of my favorite hobbies are Hiking, Body-Boarding, and Basketball!

Sean Kato as Sid presents a natural charm to the role, rather than the usual more abrasive character. Every earlier Sid I have seen has been in the virile, crooning tradition of Harry Connick, Jr., but Mr. Kato brings moodier, more intricately expressive vocal shadings to his songs (nicely set off by Conductor Gilboe’s excellent orchestra). Every time he speaks, I think Keanu Reeves, but when this love-singed Sid sings his velveteen heart out — “A New Town is a Blue Town,” “Small Talk,” “Hey There” — it’s a time you just can’t miss.

Hayley Levitt TheaterMania

“One of the reasons I do love doing theater so much is being able to be a part of an ensemble of actors that shares common interests with me. We work collectively to tell a story. With Robin Hood, there’s themes of hope and finding that light at the end of the tunnel, which is very much relevant today. I think there’s been a lot of darkness in the past year.”
